Dear Woodview Families,

We have some very exciting news to share!  Each year, the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation recognizes select teachers across the state with the Herb Kohl Fellowship Award.  A teacher must be nominated by staff, students, parents, or community members, and then the teacher must complete a lengthy application process in order to be considered.  Applications are reviewed by the teacher's regional cooperative educational service agency (CESA), and those selected are then sent on to the state selection committee.  In considering the applicants at the state level, the committee looks at each teacher's educational philosophy, ability to inspire students, creation of innovative learning opportunities, commitment to their community, goals for their professional development, and positive outlook on the future of education.
This year, we are proud to announce that Sarah Breitlow was selected as one of the state's Herb Kohl Fellowship Award recipients!  In looking at the criteria considered for this award, it is clear why Mrs. Breitlow was selected by the committee.  The committee stated that Mrs. Breitlow was chosen because of her skill as a leader and agent for positive change, as well as her superior ability to inspire love of learning.  Day in and day out, Mrs. Breitlow finds ways to reach her students individually to provide dynamic learning experiences at the kindergarten level, instilling a love of learning in our students at an early age.  Furthermore, through her work as our staff representative on the PTG Board, Mrs. Breitlow leads a number of great family opportunities at our school, including Make-A-Book Night and the Spell-A-Thon Fundraiser.  She truly embodies what it means to be an educator who cultivates the academic, social, and personal growth of all students.
We are proud of the efforts of all our staff at Woodview as we continue to work towards our vision, "Whatever it takes, learning for all children."  Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Breitlow on being recognized for her dedication to our students, school, and community.  It is certainly a well-deserved honor.
