A Note From the Principal Regarding Personal Items
Published on Feb 6, 2014 13:28

Dear Woodview Families:

Our staff has noticed a recent increase in students bringing toys and other items from home to use at recess or in school.  These items include Pokemon cards, Beyblades, and other similar toys.  Problems have arisen over use of the toys, as well as conflicts over trading and/or sharing.  With this increase in issues involving toys brought from home, we are asking for your help in keeping those items at home and not here at school.  Please check with your child to make sure that they are not bringing extra toys to school, as we have classroom games and other shared items that they can use while here.

Our policy on page 12 of the Student and Family Handbook states, "Personal items like cell phones, iPods, electronic games, trading cards, collectibles, etc. are the responsibility of the students and parents/guardians.  To avoid loss or damage, students should not bring these items to school.  Leaving these items at home also helps to avoid conflicts while playing at recess or when items go missing.  The school is NOT responsible for any lost, misplaced, stolen, or traded items."

Thank you for your help and support with this issue.  We know that our students enjoy playing with these items, but their personal items need to kept at home so that we can avoid additional conflicts or problems here at school.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at any time.

Sincerely,
Nathan Joynt
