School Volunteer Information

Dear Woodview Families,

In Grafton, we take pride in providing an excellent education for all students. We greatly appreciate the contributions of both family members and members of the community to the success of our students through their volunteer efforts.

As you entrust us with the safety of your child at school and during school activities, we have a responsibility to ensure that the adults we allow to volunteer do not pose risks to the safety and well-being of our students. To meet this responsibility we will be performing background checks on all volunteers who work alone with students, who accompany students on overnight activities, who have access to confidential information or who supervise students in an activity with limited oversight by school staff (field trips and clubs).

In implementing this procedure, we will be taking steps to safeguard the sensitive information gathered in the same way we take great care in maintaining the security of staff and student information. In the case of volunteer background checks, only the Superintendent, Director of Business Services, and Human Resources Coordinator will have access to the application and the results of the background check. All information will be maintained in a locked and secure location in the business office.

The volunteer application form may be accessed on the district website by going to the Departments and Programs tab and then clicking on Forms for Parents and Public. You may return the form to the District Office at 1900 Washington St. or email directly to Tammy Koenig at tkoenig@grafton.k12.wi.us. The form may also be put in a sealed envelope and given to a building secretary who will then forward it to the District Office.

We appreciate both your assistance and understanding as we work to maintain a safe environment for your children that is conducive to student learning.
